Gardening-Bonsai Style

Bonsai in Chinese and Japanese languages means tree in a pot. It is an art of growing trees in a confined space, usually a pot. It is very much contradicted to the peoples’ belief that bonsai is restricting plant’s growth. Carefully planting in bonsai way lets us enjoy a stunning view of gigantic trees in miniature. Although originated in some parts of China, this art form is practiced throughout the world now. It is not bonsai if you merely plant a tree in a pot. It is done by pruning and shaping the tree all the way. Very precise control is required to make bonsai work in your garden. Only the branches which seem mainstreams are left away and others are pruned away. This art can be performed on any plant which can withstand pruning to greater extent. It is not possible to outline a sure shot method for bonsai as every plant needs different environment and exposure. There are various styles of practicing bonsai with trees. The first one is formal upright style. This allows the main trunk to grow well and upright; pruning bottom branch at the length of one third of main stem. The branches converge at the top. Informal upright style is carried by allowing the plant to take its own shape for stem. The branches are pruned carefully to balance the overall structure and weight.
